Second-wave feminism significantly shaped all cultural institutions in the 1970s-80s. In music, it created the idea of pop diva, enabling women to wield power of self-determination and usurping masculinity to attain the highest levels of success and influence. The androgynous era created opportunities for women to front the most prominent acts of the FM radio/MTV Era. Among the highest profile acts was Heart, fronted by the Wilson sisters from Seattle. Though many women flaunted sexuality, the Wilson sisters instead managed to keep songwriting as their priority and have produced a remarkable catalogue of artistic expression maintaining envied technique in musical delivery and integrity in their standards of production.
This repertoire is respectfully explored by Lima, Ohio’s Heart Brigade. Audiences will enjoy the popular hits performed with the same vocal and instrumental energy as the original recordings.
